Update…

in Andrea Bonelli Jewelry

So I’ve been MIA on my blog for a while but I’ve had so much going on that I haven’t had the time! Phew! Being a single mom, while volunteering and being the kid taxi and running my own business can be tiring to say the least. lol

So I’ve had the intention of going back into wholesale and doing shows again but with my current customer workload and raising two kids alone it’s a bit much for me to go full throttle at this time. I purchased wax carving equipment, books and waxes years ago and just dabbled a bit and never got into it the way that I wanted to. I’m self taught when it comes to my metalsmithing but for some reason wax seemed so daunting and scary that I kept getting off to a slow start then I’d stop and put away my waxes for months until I’d remember I had them again.

So my resolution for this year is to make myself sit down and start carving. I figure I’ll make pieces that are for practice but for me to get the volume that I’d like, I have to carve and cast my metal pieces. Good thing about casting is that it would allow me to cast in any recycled metal so for those customers that inquire about rose gold rings, I could accommodate those types of requests without any problem.

I’m currently working on some sketches since I want to come out with a cohesive line instead of my usual carving one ring, casting it and not making anything else to go with it. In my excitement I would forget to create a matching band and I always inevitably get requests for a set. It took all of my will power to not put this puppy in the mail to ship to my caster. lol It took me a while to get the bubbles just right and I’m right now trying to create earrings, a pendant and bracelet to have them all cast together. So now as I stare at this wax ring and envision it in recycled silver and gold, I feel the urgency to actually start creating the rest of the line to go with the ring.

My next line will be organic so I’m looking at the plants and trees in my garden for inspiration… Wish me luck.
