Children’s Photo Drive San Francisco
Desiree Cherisse has put together something pretty wonderful to benefit the children at the University of San Francisco’s Children’s Hospital. These children can use a pick me up and what better way to show that someone out there is thinking of them in their time of need. This is a bit about the program taken from Desiree’s site:
“people are inspired by images. when my best friends were feeling down earlier this year, i took photographs for them. for one, i mailed a framed image of my kids holding hands. for another, i sent an image of lavender with a quote from the wonder years television show.
inspired by a photo drive done at texas children’s hospital by shutter sisters, i will be working with the university of san francisco’s children’s hospital to provide inspirational images and stories / poems for the child patients and their families. so when the children are feeling down i hope that an image from someone that cares, no matter where they are, can help lighten their spirits. in addition, as a mother i understand the stress that can be placed on family when a person they love, especially their children, are hurt. your image can also help them.
if you would like to contribute, here’s what to do:

1.either save to your computer or print a 4×6” image that you have taken. images can be anything you find inspirational, fun or special (a flower, toys, the ocean, the sky, candles.) you may specify if you are sending the image for the children patients or their family if you like.

2.write a note, poem, story or quote in the body of the email or on the back of the printed image. you may also include your name and city / state / country.

3.send me your image by either email or mail no later than may 1, 2010 to:

important notes

-the images can be no larger than 4×6” as frames in that size are the most available

-do not send or write anything religious in nature. we would like to give this gift to children and parents of all religious backgrounds (i.e. do not write ‘merry christmas’ or ‘happy holidays’ or send images of a cross.)

-for the children patients, please do not write notes that wish them better health, etc, as the reality is some may not get better.

-remember who you are sending an image / story for. so, if you are sending an image for the children patients, please write something a kid would love to hear. if you are sending something for the families, please write something applicable to them.
i will make sure the images are delivered to the children / families and will provide updates on my tumblr blog (feel free to add me with a note specifying the photo drive).
during the holidays there are many opportunities to capture inspiring and emotional images. that is why i’m starting the photo drive now. also, feel free to send this to anyone you feel would like to contribute. anyone from any city / country can help! if you can post a link this event on your facebook, blog or website even better!”
She can sure use the support so submit your beautiful photos to her via snail mail or email. You’ll be glad that you did.
Pigeon Toe Ceramics
I love this porcelain cast lantern made by Pigeon Toe Ceramics. It has a black galvanized steel wire that is attached making it perfect for hanging outside in your garden. The part that I like the most is the very soft, amber colored glow that it gives off. Love.

Fabulous Food = Smitten Kitchen
Deb of Smitten Kitchen is a cooking diva. I have this thing for great food blogs and the photography is usually the first thing that I fixate on before deciding whether to try out a recipe or not. Her photography is eye catching for sure. Makes me want to jump into the photo and grab a bite.
with that said I’m a foodie and I love good food. I can’t eat at chain restaurants because they don’t make or serve good food and creations like these from Smitten Kitchen make you realize that this is what good food should be.
